Welcome to our official Tour De Home Grown
Below there is an outline of Tour (left column) with what to expect on the day (right column). Please note that to join the Tour you must be of moderate fitness, as our ride does have some hilly parts and we will be a tight schedule. We appreciate your understanding.

We would like to thank
LEAF (La Trobe Environment Action Forum), BSA (Bendigo Students Association), The Patch and all our gracious hosts for opening their garden to us.

The Tour 2011

What is the Tour De Home Grown?

The Tour De Home Grown is an initiative started by Joshua Lim and Matthew Marsh to help students learn about an alternative to the current food system. It's a bike ride that starts at La Trobe University and moves through several residential food growing gardens, community gardens and some areas where public fruit trees can be accessed. Expect a half day ride, a social event to show students how easy cycling is in Bendigo, how and where they can grow their own food, who outside of the university community is active in urban gardening and a great place to meet like minded folk.

Last year we ran our first event and it was a wild success, with many students saying it was the highlight of their year. This year we are still focusing on students, however we have opened the door to others from the wider community in the hope that the ties between the university world and the community can be strengthened.

Below there are some photos from the first Tour and to the left is the details of this years Tour. We hope to see you there!
